Canadian-born David “Kid” Jensen has one of the most recognisable voices in radio, with over 50 years in the industry working across some of the UK’s biggest radio stations. He acquired the nickname ‘Kid’ because he was the youngest radio presenter in Europe at the time and it has stayed with him ever since. His career took off in Europe when he joined Radio Luxembourg, followed by a move to the UK. A stint at BBC Radio 1 was followed by more than a decade at Capital Radio, where he became the host of the Nescafe Network Chart Show. He moved onto London’s Heart 106.2 before returning to the Capital Radio Group, this time as the mid-

morning presenter on its Gold network.

Kid Jensen is closely associated with motor racing, having run his own race winning team, “Kid Jensen Racing” (Formula 3000 and Formula Opel) and has appeared on dozens of motor racing programmes on ITV, Sky Sports and Channel 4 and his youngest son Viktor has been a highly-rated driver.

In 2010 Kid became a Freeman of the City of London through his charity work and was inducted into the UK Radio Hall of Fame. He is a huge fan of Crystal Palace and is Chairman of the Crystal Palace F.C. Vice-President’s Club. As well as radio, Kid is a renowned host of live events and has introduced the great and the good of the rock and pop and jazz scene on the world’s biggest stages from London to Rio de Janeiro.

A long-time resident of Esher, Kid was delighted to hear about the opening of Esher Theatre and immediately offered his support to the venue.

Kid has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and is a proud patron of Parkinson’s UK as well as an ardent campaigner to raise awareness of the condition.

He is currently hosting a show on Jazz FM - yes jazz - his first musical love.
